Julia Elizabeth Wells Ferguson, "Liz", 80, of Charlottesville departed this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2009.
She was born in Nelson County on October 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Minor Wells and Virginia Fields Wells. She was the widow of Thomas Joseph Ferguson. One son in-law, Anthony Smith; and one brother and sister, preceded her in death.
Julia received her formal education in the Nelson County School System. She retired after 25 years of service at the University of Virginia in catering and food service. She was a member of Shekinah Glory Ministries and was known to be a prayer warrior. She was noted for her beautiful and gracious smile and for her pleasant disposition and spirit of helping anyone in need of assistance.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Carolyn Ferguson, Lydia Ferguson and Frances Ferguson Smith; one granddaughter, Lakeisha, one step granddaughter, Onika, two great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, one great-great- grandson, one brother in-law, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 21, 2009, at Covenant Church with Pastor Claudia Willis officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery.
