Death: Aug. 13, 2008

Helen M. Fenix went to be with her Lord and Savior on Aug. 13, 2008. She was born Jan. 18, 1931, the second child of Richard and Jessie Lowe. She grew up on Prairie Flower Road, attending the school and church there. She graduated from Webb City High School in 1949. A real beauty, she attracted the attention of young Bill Fenix. The two met at a church Halloween party. They were married Jan. 14, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark. They had four children, Becky, Jan, Bill and Linda and lived most of their lives in Airport Drive Village. Helen was very artistic, playing piano, singing and designing clothes as a young woman. Later she would also design their homes. She sang at church, weddings and with The Sweet Adelines singing group. Helen helped her husband with the start of O and F Machine in 1955. In the beginning she inspected parts for O and F. Eventually she served on the board of directors. Helen and Bill enjoyed traveling. They spent lots of time at their home in Mazatlan, Mexico, and on the boat at Grand Lake. They had many good times with friends and family. Helen was a great hostess. She loved her family. That was her life focus. Nothing made her happier than being with Bill, all of her children and grandchildren. Being a wife and mother was who she was and wanted to be. Her passing will be hard but what she has given her family will endure forever. Love never dies. Helen and Bill were living proof. Married 57 years, their love only grew stronger. They celebrated their 50th with a beautiful ceremony at the Mildred B. Cooper Chapel in Bella Vista, Ark. This was a dream come true for Helen. Helen was not judgmental, always believing everyone did their best. She was a true lady, full of grace and compassion. She was beautiful inside and out. Many times she sang the old hymn "In the Garden" and is there now with her Savior, waiting for us to come. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Hoover, of Joplin, Jan Shipley, of Lowell, Ark., and Linda Schell, of Carl Junction; a son, Bill Fenix, of Seneca, Mo.; a brother, Jack Lowe, of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Connie Plew, of Springdale, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Charlie King, minister officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center in care of the mortuary.
