Mrs. Stephen Groner, 68, died early this week at her home near Folk after a long illness of heart disease. Funeral services were held yesterday morning at the St. Anthony Catholic Church and burial was made in the cemetery there.
Mrs. Groner was born in Holland in the year 1864. She came to this country at the age of 6 years and settled near Taos where she lived until her marriage.
The funeral service was conducted by her son, Rev Groner of Illmo, Mo., who was assisted by Rev. Hundt of Folk, as deacon and Rev. Hoeschen of Creve Coeur as subdeacon. Rev. Schmidt of Lawrenceton acted as master of ceremonies and Rev. Richartz, Folk parish priest conducted the services at the grave. Seven other priests attending the funeral were Rev. Schmidt, St. Thomas; Rev. Meyer, St. Elizabeth; Rev. Hogen, Meta; Rev. Melies, Westphalia; Rev. Denner, Koeltztown; Rev. Vogelweid, Wardsville; and Rev. Windleman, Richfountain.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Groner is survived by the following children: Rev. Groner, Illmo, Gerhard, Folk; Mrs. John Helm of St. Louis, Annie of Illmo, Mrs. H. Weckenborg of Folk; John of Jefferson City and three grand-children.
