Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Felt Boory, 86, pioneer Sumner county woman and a resident of Wellington for fifty one years died in a local hospital. While she had been in failing health for some time, her condition had been serious for only the past month.

On September 1893 she made the run at the opening of the "Cherokee Strip" where she staked and approved a claim. Last fall, at Ponca City, Oklahoma, Clara attended a celebration of the strip opening and was honored as the only living woman to make the run and get a claim.
She married on October 22, 1896 to W.H. Boory at Wellington and lived in Oklahoma on the claim until July 29. 1901, moving to Sumner County to a farm four miles south of Wellington. She moved to Wellington in April 1907 to a home at 410 N. F where she lived for fifty one years.
Clara was one of nine children, all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband and an infant daughter.
Survivors include one son, Glenn W Boory and one daughter Mrs Clayton (Ruby) Diehl; three nephews Allan Felt, Wilbert Felt and Albert Felt and niece Ruth Felt.
