The Chico Enterprise, Thursday Evening, December 13, 1934: "Pioneer Rancher Taken by Death. Following a lengthy illness, Edward Thomas Fell, 82, pioneer rancher of this district, died last night at his home in the Dayton district.
"Deceased was a native of Wisconsin where his boyhood days were spent on a farm. Later he went to Silver City, Idaho, where he worked in a mine for a few years, coming to Chico in 1876, riding the entire distance on a horse. In 1883 he was married to Miss Matalda [sic] Wright in Chico. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge here for more than 50 years.
"Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Matilda E. Fell, Dayton; two sons, Edward R. Fell of Dayton and Charles D. [sic] Fell of Ventura; two daughters, Mrs. Elsie A. Troxel of Durham, and Mrs. Elizabeth Murphy of Willows; a sister, Mrs. Miriam Brown of Iowa and two grandchildren, Betty Ann Troxel of Durham and Clinton Murphy of Willows.
"Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in the chapel of the H.C. Bicknell Funeral home, the Rev. Harris Pillsbury officiating. Burial will be in the Chico cemetery."
