Louise F. (Mrs. Bert) Adams, age 88, a lifelong resident of Newton County, died February 22, 2007.
Mrs. Adams was the daughter of Newton Anderson Felker and Susie Biggers Felker and the widow of Mr. Bert Adams. She was a graduate of Covington High School, Emory at Oxford and the Atlanta School of Business and Commerce.
She worked at Southern Bell as an operator in her earlier years before Mr. Adams opened Adams Family Shoe Store on the square in downtown Covington.
She then joined her husband and worked alongside him for many years. Mrs. Adams was a member of Covington Garden Club, DAR, Covington Service Guild and a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Covington.
For over 30 years, She served as a hostess at the Gaithers Plantation and also served as a Red Cross volunteer. For several years she participated in the reading program for the kindergarten classes at Mansfield Elementary School, for over 30 years she taught the children's choirs and taught 4-5 year old Sunday School for 45 years.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, H.B. and Patricia Adams, Jr; daughters and sons-in-law, Ardis and Don Young, Susan (Suzy) and Toney Cunard, all of Covington; grandchildren, Karyl Boyd, Adam Young, Katie Tucker, Kristin Adams, Brian Cunard; two great-grandchildren and two nieces.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 2PM from the First Baptist Church of Covington with remains placed instate at 1:30 PM. Dr. Robert L. Faulkner will officiate. Interment will follow in the Covington City Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Covington Pre-School Dept. 1139 Usher Street, Covington, GA 30014.
