Helen Schekman Feinberg, a woman of valor, died Saturday at the William Breman Jewish Home of Atlanta. She was 87.

She was born Helen Jeannette Schekman in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Rose and Norman Schekman of blessed memory. After graduating from high school, she met and married William Feinberg and moved to Columbus, GA.

She was a long-time member of Shearith Israel Synagogue in Columbus where she served as volunteer manager of the gift shop, was an active member of Hadassah and the synagogue's Sisterhood. Mrs. Feinberg was also a member of Congregation Etz Chaim in Marietta, after moving to Atlanta following the death of her husband in 1997.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and JoAnn Feinberg, Marietta; Ron and Wendy Feinberg, Marietta; Larry and Amy Feinberg, Longwood, FL; Ian and Betty Ann Feinberg, Atlanta. Grandchildren, Allison Bass, Alpharetta; Amy Feinberg and Greg Selvin, Bala Cynwyd, PA; Nicole and Sam West, Lawrenceville; Jennifer Geller, Columbus, OH; Lauren and Josh Levetan, Marietta; Ryan Feinberg, Longwood, FL; Lindsay Feinberg, Longwood, FL; Stephen Feinberg, Atlanta; Emmy Feinberg, Atlanta.

Great-grandchildren, Samantha and Chase Totty, Dahlonega; Josh Selvin, Bala Cynwyd, PA; Sydney Selvin, Bala Cynwyd, PA. Brother, Alfred Schekman of Los Angeles, Calif; Great-great-grandson, Connor Totty, Dahlonega.
