Shirley F. Burns, 85, of Chillicothe, died 1:31 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. She was born April 6, 1926, in Northfield, NJ, to the late Raphael and Margaret Hannum Feeney. She married Robert E. Burns who died September 15, 1968.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Jill Burns, of Fredericksburg, VA; a granddaughter, Sally A. (Kelly P.) Dennis, of Chillicothe; great grandchildren, Charlotte and Erin Dennis; a sister-in-law, Nancy Feeney, of Lewes, Delaware; nephews, including, Robert Siebold, of Hendersonville, NC, Scott Feeney, of Washington DC, and Tom Siebold, of Naples, FL; a niece, Barbara (Lance) Stahlman, of Naples, FL; and cousins, including William Probst, of New Jersey. She was predeceased by a brother, John "Jack" Feeney; a sister-in-law, Irene Siebold; and special friends, Lee and Michele Butler.
Shirley was a member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church and O.E.S. Chapter #419. She graduated from Ohio University and later furthered her education at The Ohio State University. After college, she worked as a Betty Newton at the Gas Company. After leaving the Gas Company, she worked for Chillicothe City Schools as a Math Teacher and before retiring was the school Nutritionist. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, loved children and selflessly gave to others. Shirley loved the Cincinnati Reds, Tennis, The Ohio State Buckeyes, Bill O'Reilly, cooking and her many dear friends.
Services were entrusted to Ware Funeral Home of Chillicothe, Ohio.
