Goldie was born March 1, 1911 in Virgil, KS the daughter of Henry and Anna Dreyer Fechter. On June 14, 1936, she married Oliver Marsh who preceded her in death on July 10, 1955. She then married Edward Beck on March 25, 1959. He preceded her in death on November 1, 1987.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church for over 70 years, where she had served as secretary for all of the Sunday School classes. She attended the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class. Goldie was well known for her home made pies and afghans which she shared with family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, traveling, and solving word puzzles. Goldie retired from Niemann foods, where she had been a long time employee.
Survivors include: two sons: Larry (Sandy) Marsh of La Grange, MO; and Marvin (Terryl) Marsh of King Of Prussia, PA; two grandchildren: Shari (Cary) Fellows of Spring Grove, IL; and Jerry (Sheri Meketa) Marsh of Palatine, IL; four great-grandchildren: Morgan, Kalen, and Corin Fellows; and Samantha Marsh: two sisters-in-law, Melba Fechter of Hamilton, KS and Marjorie Marsh of El Dorado, KS; numerous nieces and nephews; a close friend, Florence Doss of Whitefish Bay, WI; and the staff of the Supportive Living Center, who loved and cared for Goldie while she was a resident there. They are all angels on Earth.
In addition to her husbands, Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Fred, George, Aaron, Roy, and Bill Fechter; two sisters: Sophia Farr and Adeline Barb; a sister in infancy, Julia Fechter; and a special friend, Don Hokamp.
Services: Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Schluckebier officiating.
Burial: Quincy Memorial Park
Visitation: Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at Hansen-spear Funeral Home.
