Clarinda (Seney) Faught was the daughter of David P. Seney, Jr. (1817-1855), born in Ohio; and Eliza Ann (Truitt) Seney (1818-1852), born in Kentucky.
Clarinda had the following known siblings:
Martin V. Seney 1844 – 1846
Lafayette Caphet Seney 1846 – 1914
Lewis Seney 1848 –
Malinda Seney 1852 –
Clarinda's mother Eliza died at the birth of her little sister Malinda in 1852. Clarinda was only 4. Her father David P. Seney, Jr. worked on a riverboat carrying cargo along the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers to New Orleans. Three years after his wife died, David either drowned or was murdered on one of these trips for his money, leaving his children orphans. They were raised by relatives.
On February 25, 1869, Clarinda was married to William Lister Faught in Macon County, Missouri by Justice of the Peace C. C. Chinn (who is also buried at Hopewell Cemetery). Clarinda and William had the following known children:
Mettie Florence Faught 1870 – 1957
Eli Orville Faught 1872 – 1941
Emma Jettie Faught 1874 – 1962
Thomas Jefferson Faught 1876 – 1970
Sadly, Clarinda died in 1877 when her children were young. Her husband William remarried in 1878 to Mary Ann King, daughter of Joel and Elizabeth (Finnell) King, and they had more children. Mary Ann died in 1900 and William married for a third time in 1901 to Sarah Ann "Sallie" (Dale) Smoot, widow of Armsterd Smoot (1844-1901). To this writer's knowledge, they had no children.
