Mrs. Bessie Alene Hall Farthing Humes, 92, of Pikeville, formerly of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Clay County Kentucky on November 13, 1929, to the late Dan and Miranda Hall. Mrs. Humes was a former employee of Ken-Car Department Store and the Smart Shop in downtown Richmond. Most of all she loved the Lord and attended The Church at Athens. She also loved and cherished her family and looked forward to spending time with them often around the table when she would cook their favorite fried chicken or bacon gravy.
Survivors include: her daughter, Cathy Newsome (Eugene); one granddaughter, Sara Scott (Demetrius); three great-grandchildren, Jaydon, Landon & Tiara Scott; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Farthing (d.1986), and Oscar Humes (d. 2011).
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Monday, August 8, 2022, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Pastor Dave Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
