Mattie was the daughter of Henry and Sally Ferris/Farris. She was married on 10 January 1907 in Cane Valley, Adair Co., Kentucky, to Thomas Washington Bridgwater. Three daughters, Dora Rachel, Elizabeth "Lizzie" May, and Sally Betty, were born in Green Co., Kentucky, after which, in 1919, Thomas and Mattie moved to Normal Twp., McLean Co., Illinois, and raised their children: Dora married Glenn Walter Otto; Lizzie married Guy L. Batson; and Sally married Ernst Kingsley, and later, _____ Hale.
