FARRELL, Marrilyn E. age 89, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2014. Born in 1925, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Reese M. Farrell.

She is survived by her daughter Linda (Nigel) Booth, sons Lee (Linda) Farrell and Glenn (Sharon) Farrell, granddaughter Jennifer and great-granddaughter Ella.

Marrilyn grew up in Seattle, Washington, where she met Reese while he was stationed there during WWII. She proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the war before marrying Reese in 1946. Reese and Marrilyn settled in the Detroit area in 1948, shortly thereafter moving to Inkster where they resided for thirty years while raising a family of three. Following Reese’s retirement in 1981, they relocated to Hudson, Michigan, where they enjoyed a more rural lifestyle through 2009.

As a partner to Reese, she played a number of vital roles over the years in support of his conservation efforts and his dedication to gun safety and marksmanship as an instructor with the National Rifle Association. A lover of nature in general, she was well known for the bird feeders and large numbers of wild birds she fed year round at her home in Hudson. One of her favorite pastimes was crocheting which won her a number of ribbons at the Hillsdale County and Michigan State Fairs over the years.

Funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 340 Pontiac Trail Walled Lake (3 Blks. S. of Maple Rd.) Tuesday September 9 at 11 AM. Interment Commerce Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday 5-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marrilyn’s memory to Angela Hospice Center or the Disabled American Veterans appreciated.
