THEODORE, AL - Edith Margaret Bartlett, 78, died on August 15, 2004 at home, in the care of her loving family.

She was born at in Rumford Center on Sept. 18, 1925, the daughter of Richard Bailey and Arabelle Holman Farrar. She attended Rumford schools, graduating from Stephens High School in 1944.

She married William E. Bartlett on June 21, 1947, and they were long time residents of Rumford Point, moving to Andover for several years before retiring to Theodore, Alabama .

While in Maine, she enjoyed being part of various service groups, and worked as a cook in the Rumford school system. She enjoyed painting, reading and braiding rugs. Summers always found the family at the camp on South Shore Road in Howard Pond in Hanover .

She attended the First Congregational Churches of Rumford Point and Andover, and was a member of the Regency Church of Christ in Mobile, AL at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband, William, of Theodore, AL; a sister, Evaline Alcombrack of Belmont, NH; three sons, Eugene (Robin) of Mobile, AL, Carry (Margie) of Hanover, ME, and James (Sherell) of Rindge, NH.

There are eight grandchildren who she loved dearly, those who live locally are Benjamin Bartlett, Andover , and Kara Bartlett and fiancé Doug Koskela, Bryant Pond. There are two great-grandchildren, Mary Kyle, who drew Nana a picture to take with her, and John Marj, who says "Nana won't be shy when she meets Jesus."

She was predeceased by her brother, R. Holman Farrar.

Those wishing may donate to the American Cancer Society in Edith's memory. Burial of her ashes will take place at the Rumford Center Cemetery, with a graveside service at a later date.
