JONESPORT - Gladys M. Farnsworth, 87, wife of the late Alonzo W. Farnsworth, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at a Machias hospital. She was born April 28, 1918, in Old Town, the daughter of George W. and Oudelie (Louzier) Saindon. Gladys was a member of the Friendly Club at Gaelic Square in Jonesport and was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Machias, and was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Old Town. She greatly enjoyed beano and being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for whom she knitted many hats, mittens and stockings. Gladys enjoyed needle work, blueberrying and canning. For several years, she also worked at Charles Stevens' Factory in Jonesport. In recent years, Gladys enjoyed watching "Murder, She Wrote", "Highway to Heaven" and "Touched By An Angel", and reading Grace Livingston Hill books.
She is survived by five children, Bernice Brooks of Cherryfield, George Farnsworth and his wife, Marlene, of Jonesport, Colleen Urquhart and her husband, Orrin, of Marshfield, Marie Ramsdell of Harrington, and Paul Farnsworth and his wife, Jeanne, of Jonesport; a brother-in-law, Bion Dorr of Old Town; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and her many special friends at Gaelic Square Apartments in Jonesport.
In addition to her husband, Gladys, was predeceased by a son, Alonzo Farnsworth Jr.; two granddaughters, Tammy Sue Farnsworth and Linda Marie Seavey.
Interment will be at the Bay View Cemetery, Mason's Bay, Jonesport. (Bangor Daily News 7/25/2005)
