Mrs. Margaret Doak Passes
Mrs. Margaret Farman Doak died at her home on Barton Heights in Joseph, Friday evening, October 11, as the result of a heart attack. She had lived here since 1901.
She was born at la Pierre, Michigan, September 4, 1873, the daughter of Edward and nancy Farman. Her father being a contractor, the family moved from state to state, finally settling at Lorance, Oregon. Here she married Walter Robert Doak, December 23, 1900.
In the spring of 1901 they moved to Wallowa county, residing near Joseph where they were interested in farming. In 1908 they moved to Joseph. Mr. Doak died December 18, 1935.
Mrs. Doak had been a member of the Methodist church since she was 15 years old. She joined the Rebekah lodge 40 years ago and devoted considerable interest to the organization.
She suffered a slight parlytic stroke in April of 1938 and had not been able to take an active part in religious and social affairs since then.
Surviving her are four daughters: Mrs. Norma Marks, Mrs. Esther Day and Eleanor Doak, Joseph; and Velma Doak, Portland; and one son, William E. Doak, who has recently been living in Arizona. Her first child, Daisy Josephine, died when but two years old. She also leaves four grandchildren and three brothers, John Farman, Hubbard; and George and Edward Farman, Lorane.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Joseph Methodist church with Rev. Ralph A. Vanderwood officiating.
Interment was in the Prairie creek cemetery.
