Combs C. Farley C. C. was born December 18, 1913 in White County, Tennessee; the oldest and only son of four children. He grew up in a rural farming community, not far from where his wife, Mabel, also grew up.
After graduating from high school in Sparta, TN, a job was found working for DuPont in Old Hickory, TN, where he continued to work until he and his young family came to Hanford in 1943. In 1949, they became active members of the newly organized Richland Baptist Church, where he and Mabel remained faithful members their entire lives. C. C. was an avid master gardener and supplied neighbors, family, and friends with the abundance of his harvest. He also was an enthusiastic bowler, hunter, and fisherman. During his spare time in the early 1950?s, he built a house in Kennewick that became the family home until his move to Tranquility Haven in Kennewick, where he was a resident for almost two years. C. C. passed away peacefully following a brief illness on December 4, 2007.
The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Tranquility Haven for their loving and compassionate care.
C. C. was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mabel, and young grandson, Donald Farley Newman. He is survived by his four daughters, Sue Newman and husband, Darrell, of Richland; Lynda Schoonmaker and husband, Warren, or Lawrence, KS; Nancy Schoonmaker and husband, Bruce, of Seattle; and Becky Ailes and husband, Sid, of Kennewick. Also surviving him are eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Viewing will be Thursday, December 6th, from Noon until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 7, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Richland Baptist Church, 1632 George Washington Way, Richland. Graveside services will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, at 10th Street and Union Street, Kennewick.
