Albert C. Fangman, 84, St. Benedict, KS. died May 18, 1996, at Country View Estates Care Home in Seneca, KS. He had been in failing health and was recently diagnosed with cancer.

He was born August 20, 1911, on a farm, west of St. Benedict, the son of Henry and Mary Eckel Fangman. He grew up there, attended St. Mary's School, and helped on the family farm.

On January 26, 1937, he married Irene M. Koch at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville, KS. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1987. She died August 5, 1994.

He farmed south of Seneca and northwest of Frankfort before moving to a farm northwest of St. Benedict. In 1968, he moved to Wichita, KS, where he was employed by Diamond Engineering installing telephone cable and tile. He returned to St. Benedict in 1976. He and his wife, owned and operated the Friendly Diner in Seneca, until they sold it in 1991.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Benedict, and the St. Joseph Society at the church, the Knights of Columbus #1769 at Seneca, where he was a life member, and a former member of the Kansas Restaurant Association.

He played fiddle, accordian, and other musical instruments at farm dances in the area. Besides his interest in music, he raised a large garden, enjoyed fishing, and woodworking. He was a family man.

Survivors are his daughters, Patricia Haverkamp, Seneca, KS; Jeanette Walter, Topeka, KS; Rosalita Farley, Millinton, TN; Linda Fangman, Wichita, KS; Sylvia Nordhus, Olathe, KS; 17 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 6 step-great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Albert Fangman on October 2, 1942; sisters, Mary Rilinger and Ann Haverkamp; brothers, William Fangman; Edward Fangman; and Lawrence Fangman.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Benedict, KS. Burial was in the church cemetery.
