Died, at 9 o'clock Saturday morning, Sept. 20, 1913, at St. John's hospital, after a lingering illness, Mrs. Lavina Faith Chapman, widow of the late L. D. Chapman of this city, aged 77 years. Mrs. Chapman had been a patient in St. John's hospital for the past three years, but before that time she resided with her son, Alvin W. Chapman, 107 1/2 West Cook street.
The deceased was born in Princeton, Ind., on Jan. 18, 1836, and came to Illinois in 1845. She was married to L. D. Chapman in 1854, and to this union ten children were born.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by three sons, Joseph C. and Alvin W., both of this city, and Charles C. Chapman of Charleston. The remains were removed to the undertaking establishment of E. P. Metcalf, in South Fifth street, and later to the residence of her son, Alvn W. Chapman, 107 1/2 West Cook street. The funeral will be held at the residence of Alvin W. Chapman at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon, the Rev. A. C. Piersel, pastor of the First M. E. church officiating. Burial will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery. IL State Register, Springfield, IL 9-21-1913
