Dad passed away Nov. 9, 2006. He was born July 25, 1917 in Salt Lake City, the son of John A. and Elisabeth Fairclough. After spending his time in the South Pacific during World War II, he married Elaine Johnson Sherner. He spent the majority of his life as a general contractor and developer. With his brother Fred they built over 800 homes in the Salt Lake Valley along with warehouses and office buildings. He was a life member of Acacia Lodge #17 of the Free Masons. As member of El Kalah Temple of the Shrine he was very proud of the years he spent on the board of governors' of the Shrine Hospital Board, which he was an emeritus member. He was also a member of the Salt Lake Police/Sheriff Honorary Colonels. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Arthur L. Fairclough, his loving wife Elaine S. Fairclough, brother Fred W. Fairclough and his sister and brother-in-law Hilda and Jack Cameron. He is survived by his three children Max Sherner, Nancy (Ron) Allred and Larry (Dee) Fairclough, sister in-law Edith Fairclough and his loving companion of 14 years Marjorie Carstensen. Art is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral Services will be conducted by the officers and brothers of Acacia Lodge #17 on Monday, November 13, 2006, 12:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 S. Highland Drive. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Following the graveside service, a gathering will follow at the Cottonwood Country Club, Art's favorite haunt.
