Charles B. Fairchild Jr., 88 of West Danby, NY, passed away Thursday morning at his home. Charles was born in 1923 in Ithaca, NY to Charles B. Fairchild Sr. and Maude (Tupper) Fairchild. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1941. He served in the army during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1944. He married his beloved wife of 60 years, Helen Brown in 1944. They enjoyed a full life together with two children and much happiness. He was employed by NCR for over 40 years. Charles was also a lifetime member of the West Danby Fire Department and was a member of the West Danby Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Fairchild. He was also preceded by his sisters, Augusta Chapman, Janice Todd and Alice Fairchild. Charles was survived by his daughter Sandra and William Fish of Lansing, his son George (Skip) and Janet Fairchild of West Danby, his brother in law Dan, and Bonnie Rappleye of Trumansburg; five grandchildren Timothy and Nancy Fish of Lansing, Gisele and Richard Fields of West Danby, Michael Lapoint of Spencer, Doug and Dena Heath of Lansing, and Walter Degear of Groton. Plus several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, October 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of West Danby with Paster Bruce Scott. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the West Danby Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to The First Baptist Church of West Danby, 2219 West Danby Road, Spencer, NY 14883 or the West Danby Fire Department, 67 Sylvin Lane, Spencer, NY 14883.
