Mrs. John T. Black, 87, of 222 East Main St., Rockton, died Thursday evening in Beloit Hospital.
A lifelong resident of this area, she was born June 8, 1877, in Rockton, the daughter of Daniel and Diemma Fairchild. She and Mr. Black were married March 16, 1898, in Beloit. Mrs. Black attended the Firtst Methodist Church of Rockton.
Mrs. Black's grandfather settled in Rockton Township in 1836 and was Stephen Mack's neighbor.
Surviving are her husband, a son, Glenn of Rockton, a brother, Robert Fairchild of Rockton; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Patton of Santa Monica, Calif., and Mrs. Jess Deardon of Kissimee, Fla.; one granddaughter, one great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Rosman Uehling Kinzer Central Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Sunday in the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m.
