Mrs. Mary Kathryn Fain Beatty, age 91 passed away peacefully Saturday, April 4th, 2009. Mrs. Beatty was born April 2, 1918, in Trinity, Texas, her family moved to Crockett where she attended elementary and high school. She and her family were active members of the United Methodist Church. Upon marriage in 1940 to her sweetheart, James Landon Beatty, she moved to Houston, Texas and lived there the rest of her life. She worked as a legal secretary for the first years in Houston. They joined the Westbury United Methodist Church in 1957 upon their move to that area, where they remained active members the rest of their lives. Mrs. Beatty, a true lady, was well-loved by all. She enjoyed laughter and had a knack for saying something kind or encouraging to each person she met. Her home was always open and welcoming to visitors. She loved to travel and she enjoyed gardening. She was fond of nature and animals, especially dogs and birds.
Survivors include her daughter Fain Beatty Zimmerman and husband Roger Zimmerman; two granddaughters Jennifer Hardy and husband Wes Hardy, and Mary McKay and husband Jim McKay; and four great grandchildren Samuel and Kathryn Hardy and Abigail and Fiona McKay; numerous cous-ins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents Samuel Arthur and Mary Jeanette (Mamie) Taylor Fain; beloved husband of 60 years, Jack Beatty; sister Margaret Fain Hall; and brother Melvin Fain.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Mary Kathryn Fain Beatty was held Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in Evergreen Memorial Park in Crockett. Pallbearers were Wesley Hardy, Whitney Reed, Roy Shepperd, and Tom Mazzu. Claire Brothers/Riley Smith
