Longtime Anchorage resident Kathleen "Kay" Bryant, 76, died Jan. 17, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A memorial service was at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 3230 Lake Otis Parkway. The Rev. Rick Cravens officiated. A celebration of Kay's life was held at Chester Park, 2020 Muldoon Road.

Kay was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Northhampton, England, to Katharine and Thomas Fadden. Kay met Ted Bryant in Oxford. He was in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Oxfordshire. He became the love of her life. Soon after they met, he was transferred back home to Pennsylvania. They continued corresponding and somehow Ted obtained another posting to England, where they quickly became inseparable. They married at St. James Church in April 1955. For the next two years, they moved around England as Ted was posted to several UK bases. In England she worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and then as a secretary at British Timken. Her family wrote: "After returning to the United States, Ted and Kay's visits to England were a great reason to get the family together and these were some of the best of times. During these visits they spent some wonderful family holidays together visiting many places in England. Devon and Cornwall and ventures to Spain were some of the favorites. "Kay and Ted were first stationed in Alaska in 1960 and were here during the 1964 earthquake. In 2004, their family came to visit them here in Alaska. They toured in the motor home, stopping to fish and sightsee all over the state, having a wonderful time. "After Ted's death, Kay continued her trips to England and even ventured on a holiday to Turkey with her family. Kay had just returned from England on Jan. 7 after spending Christmas and New Year's with her family. They were sad to see her return to Anchorage and didn't for one moment think that this would be the last time they would spend with her. They are so grateful for the time they had together. Kay will always be remembered and cherished in the hearts of all her family. "She and Ted celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary only a few months before Ted died. Kay was never to be the same as she and Ted had been inseparable. She was brave and did her best to live without Ted but missed him daily. She chose to stay in Anchorage as it had been her home for so long. She had developed many wonderful friends that in many ways had become her Alaskan family. She and Ted enjoyed all their years in Alaska and watched the state grow. They were very proud to say they were 'Alaskans.' "Kay worked for the Boy Scouts of America for more than 40 years, from 1960 until completely retiring in 2003. She loved what she did there and all the people she was fortunate to meet. She loved the 'boys', watching them grow and meet the challenges scouting had to offer. "Kathleen Bryant was one in a million. Every person I know has been touched by her spirit and goodness. She seemed to bring out the best in us. Her family loved her and her Alaskan family of friends loved her. We will all miss her terribly. She's with Ted now and I can only imagine she is as happy as ever being back with the man she has loved all her life."

Kathleen "Kay" is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Vera Fadden, and their four children, Sue, Andrew, Adrian and Julie, all of England; brothers-in-law, Donald, Raymond and Alan Bryant; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Bryant and Rita Ghering; and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Bryant. Arrangements are with Evergreen Memorial Chapel. Visit the online memorial at legacy.com
