Max Flindt passed away suddenly at Santa Clara Kaiser on October 29, 2004 at the age of 89. He was a San Jose native and a resident of Los Altos for over 40 yrs. His father Homer Eon Flindt was a life long San Jose native and was a pioneer science fiction writer. His mother Mabel E. (Williams) Flindt, of Virginia City, was a well loved Nevada City school teacher. He is predeceased by his wife Elfriede E. (Angermayer) Flindt, his sister Villa Berryman, and close friend George N. Higer. Max is survived by sister Bonnie Palmer and daughters, Kathleen (Roger Walsh) of Auburn, Diane Flindt (Don Judas) of TX, where his former wife Margaret (Philbrick) Flindt lives, formerly of Santa Rosa, CA; his son Chris Flindt (Nancy McAravy) of Santa Rosa, CA, and grandchildren Brian, Karin, Elaine, Elsa and Daniel.

Max owned "Flindt's Watch Repair, Gold and Jewelry" on Commercial St. Nevada City. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific, 78 Naval CB, Hon. Discharge, 2 Stars. Max was also a Senior Lab Tech at Lawrence Radiation Laboratory at Berkeley under Doctors Edward Teller, Glen Seaborg, Melvin Calvin; a Lab Analyst at Lockheed Space Research and at Stanford; Assistant to late Professor Emeritus, Percival Baumberger. Founding Member, Ancient Astronaut Society. He published "Mankind Child of the Stars" and "Between the Apes and the Angels".

Services were held on November 4. Coordination of a home visitation by Spangler Mortuary of Los Altos, was on November 5 and burial at (Hooper and Weaver) Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Nevada City. Graveside tribute with Honor Guards WWII Veterans. Donations of your choice or contributions to the Humane Society of the United States, Box 97015, Washington DC.
