John Eury /Ewry/Uhry was a native of Maryland and came to Ohio at a very early day. Settling in Van Buren township, and buying land one mile east of the present site of Beavertown, toward the direction of the first church he was one of the earliest to move, donating land toward it for a site two acres, upon which is also located the cemetery. He reared a large family and lived to be very old.
