Harriet Catherine Butters, age 82, passed peacefully in her sleep November 5, 2005.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. US Army (Ret) Blaine W. Butters in 1996 and her step daughter, Deanne (Butters) Fleming in 1992, one sister, Lorraine and one brother Ole.
Harriet was born in 1923 in Waukon Township, Gary, MN to Herman & Clara Everson. She moved to Seattle in 1942. She married Blaine in 1948 and spent the next several years supporting him during his military career. In 1960, they retired from the military and began a career in the apartment motel business. In 1980, they built their dream home on Puget Sound in Des Moines, Washington where she lived until her death. Harriet served her community and was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Des Moines Auxiliary of Children's Hospital, where she served two terms as president of her guild, a current board member on the Highline YMCA and a lifetime member of the Burien Elks Lodge.
Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend had a zest for life and enjoyed spending her time traveling, enjoying time with her family and friends and helping others in need.
