Leona Ruth Butt, 83, of Center Point passed away at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. Born Feb. 13, 1919, in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of Dora and May (Bradford) Everhart. She worked as a cook for Miller and Parrott in Terre Haute, Indiana State University and for Macanell Nursing Home in Center Point. She was a member of the Ashboro United Methodist Church; the Center Point Order of Eastern Star; the Brazil Moose Lodge; and was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxillary. She graduated from Brazil High School. Survivors include her children, Marjorie and Bob Evans of Brazil, Shandra Moss of Brazil, Jack and Sharon Butt of Linton, James and Peggy Butt of Center Point, and Joseph and Judy Butt of South Carolina; one brother, Merle Everhart and wife Thelma of Benton Harbor, Mich.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Butt, on Sept. 15, 1984; one daughter, Rosemary Mitchell; two brothers, Ted Everhart and Bernard Everhart; and her parents. Funeral services will be at French Funeral Home in Brazil at 11 a.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Randy Slavens officiating. Burial will follow at Ashboro Cemetery.
