Mrs. Mamie Everhart Black, age 89, of South Seneca Road in Oak Ridge, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a member of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, an accomplished singer in her choir as well as funerals and weddings and was formerly of Sheffield, Ala. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sheffield, and a graduate of Sheffield High School, class of 1939. She then attended Bob Jones University, enjoyed the outdoors, loved fishing and loved to travel, retiring to Florida before moving to Oak Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Black, and a son, Robert Black.
Survivors include sons, Steve Black (Kristine), of Athens, Ala., Michael Black (Anna Marie), of Oak Ridge; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Black, of Athens, Ala.; grandchildren, Rachel, Brian and Emily Black, Casey, Lisa, Natasha, Ashley and Lee Black; and sister, Mary Mitchell, of Harriman, Tenn.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in the chapel of Evans Mortuary, with the Rev. Donald Morris officiating. The family will receive friends 3-3:30 p.m. Saturday at Evans Mortuary.
