|Death: ||May 16, 1934|
Minnie was united in marriage to Fred Wessel & to this union three children were born; Henry Wessel, Mary Jacobs, & George Wessel. On May 19, 1898 she was united in marriage to August F Behr at Clinton and assumed the care of his five children from a previous marriage to Anna Johanna Tadsen Behr; Chris, Kate McHarg, Sanke, Fred, & Andrew. George Wessel assumed his step-father's last name. To August & Minnie's union were born five children; Harry, Edna Goins, Millie Bucher, Dorothy Bender, Frederick, & Edwin.
For three years after their marriage August & Minnie lived in the vicinity of Clinton and then moved to a farm three miles east of Fulda, & a year later moving to a farm directly west of the first farm. In 1912 the Behrs purchased their own farm seven miles southwest of Fulda, where they resided for 10 years before retiring in 1922 to the home they purchased in Fulda & have since resided.
Death came suddenly to the beloved wife & mother. Within the week Minnie had been up and about her duties attending the meeting of the Lutheran Aid Society and passing the hours quietly with her usual tasks. In February of this year, Minnie suffered an unusually severe attack of flu, from which she never fully recovered. On the Saturday previous to her death she experienced severe pains in her head which characterized her illness in February and by Tuesday the pain had so affected her mind that she was rushed to the clinic in Worthington where examination proved she was suffering from an infection in her head, which led to meningitis. On Wednesday her condition appeared to be the same, but she rapidly grew worse and about noon passed away.
Minnie was endowed with an enviable disposition, calm and unruffled in the face of everything, a devout church member and active in all affairs connected with the church, being ever ready to do more than her share when called upon. Leisure time of the later years of her life has been taken up for a large part in needlework, and many fine specimens of her artistry with her needle have gone as gifts to relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rev. O.A. Soeldner officiating.
