Although I did not have very many memories with my Grandma Betty before she passed, I have come to learn what a great woman she was, and I wish I would have had more time with her. I was only six years old when she passed away, so I did not get to spend as much time with her as I would have liked to or make as many memories with her as I would have liked to. I do know that she was a loving woman who loved all of her children, as well as all of her grandchildren, and her husband. The person I talked with about her told me that her and her dog Trixie would sit in her chair and sing together, literally. I had never heard this story about my Grandma before, and it made me smile to hear it. They told me that she would start singing a song, and her dog, Trixie, would join in by howling along. I thought that it was neat that her and her dog had a special connection like that. She was born in Piedmont, Kansas on July 16th, 1936, to her parents, Francis Simmons and Daisy James (Simmons). She had seven other brothers and sisters. On March 17, 1955, she married my Grandpa, Paul Evenson, Sr. She later passed away on April 23, 1996, in Eureka, Kansas, due to cancer. Even though I don't remember a lot about her, I still miss her dearly.
