Adrienne Weiss Evans, age 83 of Mere Point Road, passed away at Midcoast Senior Health Care Center on Friday, September 21, 2007 at the age of 83. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 29, 1924, daughter of Dr. Charles and Minerva Patrick Weiss. She graduated from the Packer Collegiate Institute and received her BA from Wellesley College in 1944. She also attended the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City. She was employed by the English Speaking Union to help new war brides adjust to New York City life during World War II and helped set up similar programs in other ESU branches across the country. She later coordinated the ESU's Educational Exchange Committee which arranged student exchanges between American Prep schools and English public schools. On December 27, 1952 she married Dr. Gerard E. Evans and then remained at home to raise her two daughters. Adrienne served on the Alumnae Board of the Packer Collegiate Institute and the Boards of the Brooklyn Wellesley Club and the Caledonian Hospital Auxiliary. She and her husband loved traveling and made annual trips to various countries in Europe, the Middle East and South America. In 1982, Adrienne and her husband retired to Brunswick, Maine. Her days were filled with volunteering. She enjoyed working at the Midcoast Hospital, the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, the Susan Dwight Bliss Room of the Bowdoin Library, and the Curtis Memorial Library. She devoted many hours over many years to the Maine State Music Theater, because of her love for the arts. She also enjoyed taking classes at the Senior College in whatever free time remained. She was predeceased by her husband in 1997, and is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Evans and her husband Jeff Priskie of Pembroke Pines, Florida and Stacey Evans of Brunswick, Maine; her brothers, Mel Weiss and his wife Leah of Fort Lee, New Jersey and Dr. Howard Weiss and his wife Marlene of Boca Raton, Florida; and her beloved grandson, chase Evans Priskie. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30a.m. Sunday, September 23, at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, where a funeral service will follow at 11:30a.m. Burial will follow at 1p.m. at the Temple Beth El Memorial Park in Portland. Her youngest daughter, Stacey, will be receiving visitors between the hours of 3:00p.m. and 6:00pm Monday Wednesday. Condolences can be expressed at www.brackettfuneralhome.co
