Frances Ann (Evans) Ater 72 of Richmond passed away Monday May 31, 2010 at Reid Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born January 25, 1938 in Williamsburg to Nathan and Clara Goodrich Evans, and lived in Richmond most of her life.
Frances was a 1956 graduate of Williamsburg High School, and retired from the Richmond State Hospital after working for over 30 years. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed camping outside events, and car rides in the country. She also loved her two dogs Tico and Ellie.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years Victor "Vic" Ater who she married October 14, 1989. Five children Sheila Ann Arnett (Bobby Ball) of Richmond, Steven Lee (Tina) Orcutt of Tipton, Annette Robinson of Centerville, Holly (David) Fry of Richmond and Heather (Finley) Griffiths of Indianapolis.
Ten grandchildren Joshua Arnett of Richmond Tyler Arnett (Stephanie McConnell) of Greensburg, Claire Orcutt of Tipton, Cody and Hannah Robinson of Centerville, Michael, Zach and Madison Fry of Richmond, Walter and Audrey Griffiths of Indianapolis. And a special niece Rhonda (Brad) Rust Kantor of Galloway, Ohio, and special nephew Randy Rust of Galloway, Ohio; and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday June 5, 2010 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev Mike Rhodabarger and Chaplain Billy Watson officiating. Burial will be in Williamsburg Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 PM Friday at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home.
