THESE OLD HANDS

These old hands that have worked so hard
Lord they've been through so much
With a bronze weathered look of leather
Yet soft as a lamb to touch

These old hands have seen many a cold winter
And remember a slower way of life
The whole wide world frightened and at war
Not once but twice

These old hands worked through a depression
And a conflicta half a world away
Hands that shook from sorrow and pain
Yet nurtured us all still to this day

These old hands have changed thousands of diapers
And dried away so many tears
Bandaged untold numbers of bumps and bruises
Was nurse to us all through the years

These old hands so weakened by time
Proof in the scars, marks, and lines
And though they are weak, and twisted and bent
They still hold the love that's only heaven sent

And as in the time past as well as times to come
These hands hold the strength of God
Between their two thumbs
And they've touched us all in more ways that one

THESE OLD HANDS BELONG TO MY GRANDMOTER
