David Nigle Evans
(September 19, 1950 - September 13, 2009)
David Nigle Evans, 58 of Round Rock, more recently a long time resident of Dallas, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009.
David was born September 19, 1950 in Orange, Texas, the son of Joe William Evans and Zora A. Outlaw Evans. He enjoyed visiting his maternal grandparents the late Nigle C. Outlaw and Mildred L. Pate Outlaw as well as his paternal grandparents, the late Williams E. Evans and Loula Ethel Giles Evans.
David was a graduate of La Marque High School in La Marque, Texas in 1968. He attended Cornell University from 1968 to 1970. David served his country in the United States Army, and then continued with his education at The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. It was there that he obtained his BBA and MBA. David received his CPA certification and owned his own accounting firm for many years. He decided to return to the classroom once more where he earned his Summa Cum Laude and a Jurisprudence Doctorate degree from Southern Methodist University.
On December 21, 1976, David was married to Judith Anne Butler of Denton. They had one son, David "Dave" Samuel Evans of Austin. It was at Preston Hollow United Methodist Church where David married Carol McEwen Phelps. David later married his third wife, Debra Wadsworth.
It was whiling serving in the Army in 1970 to 1974; he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Carson in Colorado, and attended The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language School and Presidio in Monterey, California where he learned German
An avid reader, David also enjoyed family history, animals and volunteer service in political campaigns, writing and a cat lover.
Survivors include his son Dave Evans of Austin, parents, Joe W. and Zora Evans of Georgetown; brother, Paul Bryant Evans of Alpine; two sisters, Judith Anne Trainor and her husband Jay of Georgetown, and Mary Elizabeth Outlaw of Temple. Other survivors are one niece, Elizabeth Anne Trainor of Houston; three nephews, Patrick A. Trainor of Leander, David M. Evans and Matthew S. Evans both of San Antonio; aunts and uncles, Alma L. Boone of Midland, Marianne Van Houtte of Temple, Jenny Spivey of Mount Enterprise, Stephen A. Boone of San Antonio, and Thomas D. Evans of San Antonio.
Graveside services under the auspices of The Gabriels Funeral Chapel are schedule for 1:00PM, Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at IOOF Cemetery, officiating the service will be the Wesleyan Chaplain the Rev. Dean Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed by the Georgetown Animal Shelter, 110 Walden Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78626.
