Maye Della Cofield of McKinney, Texas passed away June 18, 2014 at the age of 89. She was born November 3, 1924 to Edell Evans, Sr. and Pearl (Fields) Evans in Normangee, Texas. Maye married Rennie Grover (R.G.) Cofield on July 29, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Huston-Tilltson College and attended Texas Southern University. Her teaching career includes forty years with the Borger, Texas Independent School District and twenty-nine years with the McKinney Jobs Corps. Her interests included Sunday School Class Secretary, President of the Women's Missions, Deaconess and a secretary for the NAACP. Maye was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church in McKinney.

Maye is survived by children, Reggie G. Cofield and daughter-in-law Merry, Renee DeLana Cofield , Vert Cofield Propes and son-in-law David; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, R.G. Cofield, granddaughter, Jillian W. Faggett; parents, Edell and Pearl Evans; and brother, Edell Evan, Jr.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2014 at St. Mark Baptist Church, 1308 Wilc0x Street, McKinney, Texas 75069 with Pastor Charles S. Wattley officiating. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
