Biography
Funeral services for Billie Walker, 90 of Hulbert, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10 at the Prairie View Church west of Hulbert, with her brother, the Reverend Jake Evans officiating.
Billie was born March 23, 1921 in Glenpool, Oklahoma to her parents, Granville and Nicey (Coonhead) Evans. Billie grew up and attended school in the Tulsa area. She was very competitive at an early age. Billie was recruited as an Olympic swimmer and was a champion ‘Powder Puff' stock car driver in the 40's and 50's. She was even invited to race ‘Midget Cars' in Europe. She continued her education at NSU and became a teacher for the Headstart Program in Hulbert for many years until her retirement. Billie was very active in her church as an Elder, musician, song-leader and Sunday school teacher. To her family, she was always a wonderful mother and homemaker. Billie passed away Wednesday, March 7 at the Cherokee County Nursing Center in Tahlequah.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents; her eight brothers and sisters and her husband, Francis Walker in March, 1993.
