December 30, 1916 - June 12, 2011 OKLAHOMA CITY Austin Hurshel Evans, 94, passed away June 12, 2011, at his home in Oklahoma City OK. He was born December 30, 1916, in Black Fork AR to Jasper and Ava Shaver Evans. He was a lifetime resident of the Oklahoma City metro area. Austin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and quilting. Austin served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1940 to 1945. He served during World War II and the European Campaign. During his service he was awarded three Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, and the European Campaign Medal. He was very proud of his service to his country.
Austin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Muriel; sisters Zella Harmon, Bess Lewis, Illus Evans, Opal Hull, Mary Ann Reno, and Juanda Gipson; and brother Virgil Evans. Austin is survived by several nieces and nephews.
