Daughter of the late James Bruce and Mary May Johnson Eure and the granddaughter of Robert Luther and and Mary Murphy May Johnson, whom she called Mama and Pop, she was the widow of Charles Wesley Harvey, Jr. She was a graduate of Ayden High School and she received her undergraduate and masters degrees in elementary education from East Carolina College. Her teaching career including two years in Lenoir County and 26 years in Pitt County. She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church and held many positions of leadership including teaching the Harey-Webb class for many years. She was active with the Greenville Service League and served the League in many ways. She and her daughter, Mary Wesley Harvey, were the only mother-daughter pair to have each served as president and chairpersons of the Charity Ball. She was a member and former president of German Club. She was a longtime member of the Greenville Golf and County Club. She was survived by her daughter, Mary Wesley Harvey; and brother, James Bobby Eure and wife Martha Jane. A celebration of her life was held April 4, 2009, with The Rev. James S. Kohler and The Rev. Wanda Neely officiating.
