Daughter of the late Clifton Edward and Elizabeth Eure of Norfolk, Virginia. Lena was one of ten children. Lena was one of the strong forces that maintain family unity. After graduation from Booker T. Washington High School she was immediately employed by the Norfolk Journal Guide Newspaper where she work for more than twenty years. When she had a better opportunity for employment she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. In Raleigh Lena worked for the Carolinian Newspaper and retired forn the Raleigh News and Observer.
