Birth: Feb., 1842
Arkansas, USA
Death: Jun. 27, 1904
Greenville
Hunt County
Texas, USA

Son of Pierre Etier and Elizabeth Chasteen. (Some in Bennett's line say his first name began with an "H". Have found no proof, so have not added it on his name.)

United in marriage May 29, 1862 in Fannin County, Texas with Jane Etier his cousin. Born to them were Christopher Columbus "Lum" Etier and Armica Eglantine Etier. Armica died from Measles as an infant. Jane passed in 1865/66. Not long after her daughter.

On April 11, 1866 he was united in marriage in Hunt County, Texas with Sarah Elizabeth Brownlee (my 1st cousin 3x removed). Born to them were Emelie Louisiana 'Lula' Etier, Maggie Rosetta Etier and Henry Benjamin Etier. Sarah passed in 1874.

Bennett then married Eliza Jane Beck on June 13, 1875, in Hunt County, Texas. Per many family records born to them were. James Monroe Etier, Tiny Narcissus Etier, Roland Levtillis Etier, Grace Missouri Etier, Jessie Mississippi Etier, Louis Lee Etier and Peonia "Ona" Etier.

Information per his Granddaughter Margaret Dougherty, says that Bennett named all of his sons after a president or some important man, like a general, and his daughters names had either a state or flower. Armica Eglantine middle name meant "Wild Rose" in French.

He was a very good fiddle player and played at dances, besides farming.

In 1895 Eliza Jane caught pneumonia, after going 30 miles on horseback in a snow storm to get a doctor because Bennett was very ill. He survived his illness but she did not, passing in a week later when youngest child Grace was between 6 month of age.

Having been widowed 3 times by age 53, he did not remarry, but raised the younger children alone with help from the older ones still at home.

After his passing, the younger children were shifted between their siblings families until adults.

Per the Etier family records, both he and Sarah are in this cemetery, and it is believed that Jane and Eliza Jane are here as well, which makes sense. Unknown for sure if any have markers.
