"Lydia Cardenas 1948-2001 Lydia Cardenas, former Willcox resident, died on July 21, 2001, in Tucson, at the age of 53. Lydia was born to Jose and Maria L.Estrada. Lydia resided in Willcox most of her life until moving to Tucson. She was a happy lady. Lydia was known as the "Candy Lady" by neighborhood kids. She will be missed by her family and friends. Lydia is survived by her mother, Maria L. Estrada, of Safford; Jose Estrada of Bowie; three daughters, Rebecca Viramontes and Carmen Rivas both of Tucson; and Theresa of Chandler; two sons, Pedro Guillen and Liborio Cardenas both of Tucson; brothers, Tomas Guillen of Seattle, Wash.; Carlos Guillen and Jose Manuel both of El Paso, Texas; Tony and Sal Estrada of Bowie; sisters, Francis of El Paso, Texas; Mary Washington; Aurora Roman of Santa Fe, N.M.; Gloria Michel of El Cajon, Calif.; Josie Ramirez, Pat Lopez and Rosa Jurado all of Safford; 18 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on July 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the La Iglesia Apostolica Church in Tucson. A funeral service will be held today, July 25 at 10 a.m., with interment following at South Lawn Cemetery in Tucson."
