Born Milagros M. Estrada in the Philippines, she met her future husband, Sixto P. Ancheta, there. She immigrated to the United States in 1968 and settled in West Brighton in 1970.
"She was a simple but elegant lady," said her son, Dr. Gerald Ancheta. "She was a very caring and loving woman who would think of others before herself."

She loved gardening, cooking, and traveling. Her favorite television show was "Dancing With the Stars."
Along with Sixto, her husband of forty-two years, and her son, Dr. Gerald, Mrs. Ancheta is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Arvesu; four step-sons, Andy, Ami, Tanny, and Sixto Jr.; four step-daughters, Flor Sadakane, Ludy Cruz, Shirley Catalano, and Mercy Atienza; five grandchildren; and eighteen step-grandchildren.
