María Juana Bautista Espinosa y Tapia was the daughter of Cabo (Corporal) Gabriel María Espinosa y Higuera (SLD Baptism 00414) and neophyte María Mauricia Tapia (1800-18??). She was baptized at the Monterey Presidio Chapel (San Carlos) on June 26, 1828 (SC Baptism 03560). She married José de Jesús Castillo y Sinova at the Monterey Presidio Chapel October 27, 1845 (SC Marriage 01191). María was a widow when she died at Monterey in late March 1849 and was buried in Campo Santo San Carlos March 28, 1849 (SC Death 03407).
