TAMAROA -- Charles S. Eslinger, 69, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, in Saint Louis University Hospital.

Charles had worked for Frito Lay for 26 1/2 years, retiring in 2002. He had also worked at Greens IGA for years before working at Frito Lay. He was of Baptist faith.

He was born Jan. 18, 1943, in East St. Louis, the son of Walter and Mary (Stanczyk) Eslinger. He was raised by his stepparents, Arthur and Katherine Moore.

He married Doris M. Huggins on Aug. 22, 1961, in Pinckneyville, and she survives.

Chuck loved to travel and go to car shows. He also loved to collect anything Mopar.

He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa; one brother-in-law who was like a brother, Elroy Huggins and wife, Ruth, of Pinckneyville; sisters-in-law, Fay Clark and her husband, Henry, of Du Quoin and Annetta Huggins of Pinckneyville; several nieces and nephews; and also great Mopar friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepparents; one son, Allen Eslinger; and one sister, Anita Knuth.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with the Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Burial will be after the serviecs. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
