Services for Carl Harding Ernst, 77, of U.S. 27 south, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home by Jimmy Jenkins. Burial will be in K.P. Hall Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion.
He died Monday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lexington.
Born Jan. 27, 1922, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Barney and Bernetta Ballard Ernst.
He was a retired farmer and custodian and Kings Mountain Elementary School, a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivor include his wife, Ivagene Williams Ernst; two sons, James B. Ernst of Winchester and Robert A. Ernst of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Debra L. Ernst of Waynesburg and Sharon G. Neal of Byrdstown, Tenn.; a brother, David Ernst of Stanford; a sister, Geneva Skeen of Waynesburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark and Dwight Williams, Larry Reynolds, Donald Dunaway, Nick and Josh Ernst and Steven Cook.
