St. George, Utah -- Lois Minnie Eriksson Cannon passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at Dixie Regional Medical from conditions related to age. She is survived by her husband of 63 years George Richards Cannon, her children George Richards Cannon, Jr., Hugh McKinley Cannon (Bonnie), Erik Jenne Cannon (Camille), Robert Angus Cannon, Christopher Qualye Cannon (Tina), Laurel Louise Cannon Rogers (Lynn), Donald Eriksson Cannon (Lorilee), a sister Margaret Helen Eriksson, a brother Robert McKinley Eriksson, a sister Mary Louise Eriksson, 35 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Her father Erik McKinley Eriksson, mother Minnie Louise Reuber Eriksson, and daughter Ann Eriksson Cannon preceded her in death.
Lois was born July 14, 1922 in her grandparents home in Odebolt Iowa. After moving a couple of times in Iowa she moved to southern California when she was seven. She grew up there and at age 18 was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by her future husband. She joined the church at that time and has since served in various positions. She has been employed in a variety of jobs including a career with the U.S. Postal Service where she retired in 1977. Of all her accomplishments, nothing was more satisfying to her than her eight children and the accompanying grand children and great grandchildren. She leaves them a legacy of faith, love and service.
Funeral services for her will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at 3 p.m., at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd. A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 21, from 1:30-2:30 p.m., prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary 435-673-4221. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Primary Children's Medical Center Foundation at 100 North Medical Dr., Salt Lake City, UT 84158-0249.
