Kathleen Linnea Eriksson Ashton, 53, passed away February 15, 1996 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo after a courageous battle with the complications that often accompany diabetes.

Kathie was born December 8, 1942 to Karl Oskar Edvard and Norma Francis Kest Eriksson in Oakland, California. She married Marlowe Kent Ashton on June 26, 1968 in the Oakland California LDS Temple. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to all.An active member of the LDS Church, Kathie served in many positions of responsibility, especially Primary. Kathie was an active member of PTA, serving as president of the Orem District. She loved people and enjoyed the privilege of serving throughout her life. A graduate of the Brigham Young University four-year nursing program, she enjoyed using her skills whenever appropriate. Her family was the joy of her life.

Survived by husband, Marlowe Kent Ashton, children, Jon Erik (Caryn) Ashton and granddaughter, Alyssa Ashton of Terre Haute, Indiana; Thomas Scott Ashton, presently serving an LDS mission in Kiev, Ukraine; David Brian Ashton and Lisa Nicole Ashton; her parents, Karl Oskar Edvard Eriksson and Norma Francis Kest; sisters,Karin Buck of Provo; Linda Hart, Maureen Muhlestein of Concord, Calif.; and Marcia Hetzler of Martinez, Calif. She was preceded in death by a son, Kent Ashton; and a sister, Bonnie Eriksson.

The family would like to express special thanks to the entire kidney transplant clinic at the University of Utah Medical Center as well as the attending physicians at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Utah Diabetes Association of the LDS Missionary Fund.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 19, 1996 at 1 p.m. in the Suncrest Stake Center, 95 North 600 West in Orem, Utah. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 600 East 800 North, Orem, and Monday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the stake center. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
