Mrs. Gustava Bidne Came to This Territory in 1871;
Was Nearly Eighty-Eight At Death
Mrs. Gustava Erickson Bidne was born in Solor, Norway, March 9, 1867. In 1871, together with her parents, brothers, and sisters, she came to Decorah, Iowa. In 1876 the family moved to Garretson, SD. She was united in marriage to Gullick Bidne on July 5, 1889 and they resided in the Garretson vicinity until 1902 when they moved to Baltic.
She was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in her youth by Pastor E. G. Mitbo, and remained steadfast in this faith until her death. She was a member of the Baltic Lutheran church and an honorary member of the Ladies Aid.
Mrs. Bidne pass away on December 2, 1954 at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 23 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1949. She is survived by three children: Mrs. O. S. Sandvig, George Bidne, and Gilma, Mrs. A. M. Endahl; 7 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the Baltic Lutheran church on Tuesday, December 7th, Pastor Paul D. Sather officiating. Mrs. Bennie Nustad, organist, Mrs. Gehard Erickson sang, "Den Store Hvide Flok" and "Abide With Me."
Pallbearers were Clarence Dregseth, Julius Endahl, Maurice Fossum, Rolland Brendsel, Sander Questad, and Palmer Prestbo. Interment at the St. Olaf Lutheran cemetery.
