She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Louise Kinton, and her son, Angelo Callahan.
Athel joined First Union Baptist Church at an early age, and remained a member for over 50 years.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Daryl Epps and Keith Garnett Epps; one daughter, Aulion Vanessa Simmons; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family received friends Thursday, July 17, 2008, 7pm to 8pm, at the Brunson's Funeral Chapel, 1st and Federal Streets. Homegoing services Friday, July 18, 2008, 12 noon, at First Union Baptist Church, 3510 Dill Road, with Dr. Henry C. McNeill, pastor, officiating. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens. Robert M. Brunson Sr. and Jr., directors.
